Fire Fighting System
The test cell is equipped with the modern and effective fire fighting system HI-FOG . This system combines the extinguishing characteristics of water with penetrative qualities of gas, but without any safety hazards for personnel or the environment. Penetration and suppression of all types of fires is achieved by high momentum discharge of small water droplets in the form of a mist which absorbs the fire energy, cools the surrounding hot air and gases, and prevents the oxygen from entering the combustion area. The system operates on the following basis: a pump, driven by high pressure nitrogen provided by nitrogen bottles (up to 200 bar), pressurises water up to the injection pressure (around 100 bar). Water is injected through specially designed spray-heads, thus, producing a very effective mist for fire suppression. The fire suppression system is coupled with and supported by a suitable fire alarm system. |
